Check our program list page.Squirrel Hill Teens SPECIAL NEEDS PROGRAMSAll JCC facilities are handicapped accessible in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.The JCC-Squirrel Hill Teen Center, an after-school program for teens with special needs, is open to individuals ages 13-21. Teens come together to enjoy a wide range of activities in a structured, social setting, Monday through Friday from 2-6 pm. Trained staff provide a safe environment for teens to build life skills, express themselves in creative ways, gain confidence to interact with the community and their peer group, and cultivate friendships and a sense of belonging. Physical activities include basketball, swimming, walks (indoor and outdoor), and group games. Other activities include trips to the library, to Giant Eagle to purchase ingredients for cooking, games in the park, art projects, computer lab experience and fun movie days. The Special Needs Department is supported in part by a grant from the Herman and Rebecca Fineberg Fund for Exceptional People. The JCC-South Hills outdoor adaptive playground is accessible for children with special needs. Funded through individual donations and a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
