Family Place is designed to help support and meet your needs as a family while attending the JCC. Our programs strive to provide you with variety.
We offer your child loving care through paid programming while you work out, attend a class or just need some time to yourself. We also offer some FREE programming and Enrichment Programs such as music and after school options.
Family Place Open Play – Newborns to age 5
This a cozy, child-friendly room well-equipped with age-appropriate toys located next to the front desk. It provides a space where you can meet other families as your child explores learning, while also giving them an opportunity to interact with other children. This is a FREE service available to you and your child. We ask that you follow the Family Place guidelines listed in the room and posted below.
Open Play Monday – Friday 1 – 5:30pm
- A parent or caregiver that is a member must be present at ALL times with the child
- Please wash your hands before play and after
- If you choose to have a snack at the table,
- please clean up as a courtesy to others
- For the safety of children, please put toys away neatly
- Turn the lights out when you are finished
- All diapers must be bagged and disposed of properly

Babysitting is available for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old. Buy coupons at the Front Desk; advance reservations are required. Space is limited
Hours are Monday – Friday 8am – 1pm
Monday – Thursday 5:30pm - 8:30pm
$3.50/Child/hour; $30/12 hours
Family Place Classes
Family Place is an area in the lobby that allows children to participate in a variety of structured classes. Parents may leave their children for these 60-minute classes. They are fluid, allowing for new students every 30 minutes. Classes are designed to complement workout schedules; however they are not limited to fitness participants.

Music Family Fun!
Come join Katy Williams for music, movement, rhythm and dance. Katy is a CMU graduate with a major in Vocal Performance. She is currently the soloist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s Fiddlesticks Children’s Program. She has been with the JCC for 8 years and counting as the music specialist.
Your child will learn through simple rhythm instruments, creative movement and musical storytelling.
