At Performing Arts Camp, children of all abilities explore creative interests and improve their level of arts competency. Performing Arts Camp builds self-esteem and confidence as it gathers the campers into a unified company of performing artists—a group where teamwork and cooperation are rewarded by the sound of applause. There’s time to swim, participate in sports, and just relax. But unlike traditional camps, our focus is the arts—how different disciplines complement each other, and how we each have a valuable contribution to make. We provide a well-balanced kosher lunch and snack each day.

Music

Campers work on the development of musical skills and learn musical theater repertoire in a fun group setting. Campers showcase their expanded vocal skills in the final musical production.

Drama

Theater games as well as drama and vocal exercises help campers learn to express themselves. We experience theater “up close” through workshops with professionals from the Pittsburgh theater community. Workshops may include: Acting for the Camera, Stage Combat, Make-up, Shakespeare and more.

Dance

Through the study of technique and choreography, campers learn how to break down a complicated routine into manageable steps. They gain flexibility, strength and stamina, explore various dance styles, and learn how to survive a dance audition—a must for school musicals. Musical Theater Production Campers participate in an all-camp production at the conclusion of the session. We experience the special camaraderie and energy that builds with the unfolding of a performance. In addition, campers have the opportunity to learn about the backstage components of theater production, including set construction and lighting, as well as sound design and operation.
