JCC - South Hills Day CampsJCC - South Hills Day Camps for children ages 2 - 13 make full use of its nine-acre site in Scott Township. Children can choose from traditional day camp programs as well as a wide variety of exciting specialty camps. For more information, call (412) 278-1975, ext. 200.CAMP CHALUTZIM:A Traditional Day Camp, Grades 5-8 Chalutzim offers our older day campers traditional day camp activities - daily Red Cross swim lessons, free swim, sports, arts& crafts, nature, drama, Judaics and Israeli culture as well as an extended specialty period. Specialty periods may include newspaper, photography, drum karaoke, Power Point , balloon art, and cooking. Session 1 will include an overnight, where as Sessions 2 & 3 will have 6:00 PM late stays. Through training and weekly workshops, the CIT’s will understand the responsibilities of a day camp counselor, develop a spirit of volunteerism, understand the impact that they can have on their community, develop stronger social skills and develop their own strengths and skills while working with children. Counselors-in-training will participate in team-building exercises with their fellow CIT’s, share responsibility of a group of campers with a junior and senior counselor, lead a weekly activity with their group and participate in a CIT camp community Mitzvah project. Session 1: June 21 – July 16$565* Session 2: July 19 – August 13$565* *After successfully completing their CIT contract, a portion of the fee will be returned. Camp Sabra (grades K-4)Our traditional day camp features a variety of activities with an emphasis on Jewish values and group dynamics. Campers receive Red Cross swim lessons daily and can earn achievement pins or ribbons. Activities include free swim, sports, games, arts & crafts, nature, drama, Judaics, Israeli culture and dance, as well as special events such as carnivals, parades, holiday celebrations and Olympic-type activities. Kindergarten-age campers have an undernighter during Session 1. Campers in grades 1-4 will participate in an overnight during Session 1. Each camper in grades 1-4 selects from a variety of Chugim (specialties) that may include drama, sports, arts & crafts, dance, camp newspaper, jewelry making, nature and much more. Training in theater, music and dance culminates with two performances at the end of the session. Performing Arts Camp is a program of the Philip Chosky Performing Arts Program.
Challenger British Soccer Camp® (1 or 2 week option) Grades 2-7Coaches from Challenger Sports British Soccer will emphasize individual skill development, fundamental tactics, goal scoring and coached scrimmages. They will also provide lessons in respect, responsiblity, sportsmanship and leadership.
Julius Page Basketball Camp: (1 or 2 week option) Grades 2-7Campers will learn the fundamentals of basketball from former Pitt Basketball star and European Pro, Julius Page through drills, competitive play and games.
Wet and Wild Camp: (1 or 2 week option) Grades 3-7Campers will experience fun-filled day "water" trips to Sunset Beach and Moraine State Park. Thursday they will travel to EKC for an overnight and experience lake activities.
Campers will have a day of play at the JCC pool, travel to Settler's Cabin Wave Pool, paddle down the Yough at Hazelbaker's and learn to SCUBA.
A certified lifeguard will accompany campers on all day/overnight trips. Ceramics Camp: July 19-July 23 Grades 2-7Under the direction of Char Bailey, campers will learn the basics of building clay pieces by hand and finishing the creations with glazes and paints. Campers will travel to Char’s Ceramics Art Studio daily.
Ice Skating Camp: July 26-July 30 Grades 2-7Winter fun in the summer! Learn ice skating from a trained instructor from Mt. Lebanon Ice Rink. Campers will travel to Mt. Lebanon Ice Rink daily.
Dance Camp: August 2-August 6 Grades 2-7Heather Ferri, the JCC-South Hills Dance Instructor, joins us this summer to teach the many different styles of dance. Heather is a Guiness Book of World Records holder for tap turns and she will teach campers tap, ballet, jazz, modern and hip hop.
Adventure Camp: August 9-August 13 Grades 3-8New this summer! Campers will travel everyday to a new destination. Adventures may including: Bowling, Pittsburgh Zoo, Sandcastle, Sunset Beach and Idewild. There will be late pick ups on some days.
