JCC Boys Varsity Basketball Team Semifinals!

Posted on Feb 20, 2014

We are pleased to announce that the 2013-2014 Boys Varsity basketball team has made it to the Semifinals of the Greater Pittsburgh Independent Basketball League (GPIBL)!

Their semifinal game will be played tonight (Thursday, February 20) at 7:30 pm in the Robinson Gym at the JCC in Squirrel Hill.

The Varsity team ended the regular season with a record of 7-3 in section play and 13-3 overall which gave them the #2 seed in the playoffs and guaranteed them a bye in the First Round.

They will face off tonight against the #4 Seed Friendship Academy who ended the season with a record of 6-4 in GPIBL section play. This will be their third matchup against them this season with the two teams splitting their two regular season games so tonight’s game has all the makings of an instant classic!

Please make every effort to attend the semifinal game tonight and support the JCC Varsity team as they try and advance to the Finals and bring the GPIBL Championship Trophy back to Squirrel Hill!

I’d also like to take a second to congratulate the JCC 6th grade girls travel team on their Metro USA League Championship as they defeated South Park in overtime last Saturday to finish the season as undefeated Champs! The 6th grade boys (#2 seed) and 7th grade boys (#1 seed) JCC teams are also still alive in the Metro USA playoffs and are hoping to make it a multi-championship season on the court for the JCC basketball program!

Best of luck to all of the players, coaches and teams as they move through their postseasons!
