Samuel M. Goldston Teen Philanthropy Project (Grades 7 & 8)

Through programming built on the principles of tzedakah and tikkun olam, Jewish teens learn how to be responsible philanthropists. Participants each contribute $500 to the Teen Philanthropy Fund. This money is matched dollar-for-dollar through the generosity of the Goldston family. The teens learn about philanthropy and grant making, explore the many ways nonprofit agencies help make the world a better place, review grant proposals submitted by local, national and international organizations, and make site visits to agencies who have submitted grant proposals. The teens discuss funding priorities, and ultimately make allocation decisions. Team building, social action activities and service learning opportunities are also part of the program.
The next cohort will meet starting in October. Registration is required by Tuesday, September 30.
