Trainer Spotlight

"I like to help people achieve their goals, and have fun getting there," says Jesse Smart, the JCC's Featured Trainer for the month of December.

Jesse, originally from Needmore, near Breezewood, Pennsylvania, moved to Pittsburgh in 2013 to pursue his Doctor of Physical Therapy graduate degree at the University of Pittsburgh. He completed his undergraduate education in Exercise Science at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and obtained his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification in 2013 through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Jesse was a three sport athlete throughout high school, competing in football, baseball and basketball. His athletic career was cut short in 2009 after a low back, weight lifting injury that sparked his interest in the physical therapy and personal training fields.

Jesse enjoys working with motivated individuals who like to learn about their bodies, preventing injury and improving their physical ability, as well as those who may have a history of injuries. "I don't use a cookie-cutter approach to training," he says. "I am really good at adapting exercises-one of my favorities is to use TRX and other types of body weight training-and tailored workouts to meet the person's goals."

Schedule your FREE hour session with Jesse all through the month of December. (Excludes December 24 and 31)
